The Bible is the source of everything we believe as Christians. It's God's story, His love-letter to us, a manual for life, and a source of great inspiration and amazing insight. It's the bestselling book of all time, is published in hundreds of languages, and continues to be a the place where people turn in times of need. It is undeniably the most impressive and important book ever written. With all that going on, it's easy to see why the Bible is often also intimidating and can seem confusing. So NSL is starting a new 6-week series on March 30th to go over some Bible Basics and learn about this amazing book, and God's message that it holds.
The Plan
Week 1: Getting God's Message
An introduction to the Bible and it's impact on culture and history.
Week 2: History of the Bible
How was the Bible written and how has it changed into the book we read?
Week 3: Reliable Bible (Bonus: FaithSearch Seminar Sunday night on this subject)
How can we know the Bible is true? How do we know it hasn't changed?
Week 4: Structure of the Bible
Are the books in order? How do I find things? How is the Bible laid out?
Week 5: How to read the Bible
How do I take what I've learned about the Bible and use it?
Week 6: How to read the Bible (part 2)
What tools can I use when reading the Bible? How do I learn more about things the Bible says?
Tools to check out in the meanwhile:
Bible Gateway - #1 online source for Bible stuff
YouVersion - an online Bible that lets you make your own notes and link to other things online.

A part of what we're doing with this series is also issuing The 40 Day Challenge, a challenge to read your Bible every day for 40 days! You can read whatever you want, just be sure to read 1 chapter from the Old Testament and 1 chapter from the New Testament every day. If you need a suggestion we're here to help. You can:
Get TXT messages with daily Bible readings. These come straight from NSL, so you won't get spammed (we HATE spam!) and will contain a chapter from both the Old and New Testaments to read.
Sign up for our TXT message alerts!Or...
Check out The Update. We will be posting the same daily readings at the NSL Blog, The Update (please note that this is different from the Inbox Edition of The Update that is e-mailed to you every few weeks). You can sign up to get an e-mail with each post if you like by putting your e-mail in the box on the right hand side of the blog. Or you can use a RSS Reader. If you need help with either of these just e-mail Luke.
Good luck on the challenge!
