2008 Objectives & Prayer Focus
2008 Northwood Church Objectives
For several months the Northwood Leadership Team has been discussing and praying about possible 2008 objectives. Here's a list of proposed objectives with a short explanation for each one. The final list of objectives, along with the 2008 Northwood Church General and Outreach Fund budgets, will be presented and approved by congregational vote at the February 24 Annual Meeting following morning services.
- Write and implement a plan to strengthen marriages at Northwood Church. The Bible teaches that marriage is God's gift to meet human needs for companionship, intimacy, growth (personal and spiritual) and family. In addition, research says that good marriages are the foundation of a healthy family, society and nation. Northwood wants to be a church that helps couples establish and build strong, satisfying marriages that honor God and bless others. This objective will identify specific ways Northwood Church can encourage married couples and those considering marriage.
- Train Northwooders how to share their faith with others. The purpose of Northwood Church is, "To help people believe in Jesus Christ and become more like him." This objective will help Northwood accomplish the first half of our purpose by encouraging and equipping Northwooders to be more effective witnesses for Jesus Christ in the places we live and work. Northwood wants to be a church that points people to Jesus Christ, the hope of the world.
- Write and implement an adult ministries plan. This objective will help Northwood be more effective at accomplishing the second half of our purpose statement, "To help people . . . become more like him (Jesus)." It will develop a comprehensive adult discipleship plan that integrates what we already do (men's, women's, small groups, ABF, MOPS, one to one discipling, serving) with new ministry areas we should pursue.
- Write and implement a plan to help Northwooders discern, develop and deploy their spiritual gifts for ministry. The Bible teaches the Holy Spirit gives every believer at least one spiritual gift (supernatural ability) to be used for the benefit of others and the building of the church of Jesus Christ. This objective will develop ways for Northwooders to discern their gift(s), develop their gift(s) and use their gift(s). It is a carryover from 2007 objectives.
If you have ideas about these or other possible objectives, speak to a Leadership Team member, call a Northwood pastor or write comments on the back of your worship service information card.
